Ouch!

Jared got a minor wound on his hand 2 days ago. He was playing outside (running and jumping) and suddenly lost his balance and had his hand scratched. It drew blood. He cried after the incident. Too bad I was not there when it happened. Noemi, his nanny, consoled him by blowing some air into the wound (a way to soothe or lessen the pain but I'm not sure if it's the right thing to do) and then washed it. From then, when we talked about his wound he would always ask us to blow on it even if there's no pain anymore haha!

Movie date

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Last night, had a movie date with my closest friends from college. We had dinner first before going to the cinema. They suggested that we eat at Spaghetti Factory. I don’t like dining here since the price is a bit high while serving size is just good for one. Anyway, I had the Chef Style Pasta – baby shrimps in creamy pesto sauce which is quite good.

We watched the movie, Nights in Rodanthe which I really did not enjoy but I did enjoy the time I spent with my friends. :)

My two boys

I just want to share this photo of the 2 boys in my life :) There’s Ryan playing and Jared watching keenly. This is what keeps Ryan busy when we are at my mom’s place. Ryan is really fond of video games since high school days. And by looking at the photo, Jared shows the same fondness too. Or maybe he’s just curious about what that thing is. I hope so! Anyway, aren’t they cute? :)

Happy bee

Monday, October 27, 2008

My sister told me that Jollibee is now offering a Jollibee plush stuffed toy. I've been looking for one for so long since Jared likes the Jollibee mascot so much. He would always smile (a really happy smile) and say "bee" every time we passed by a Jollibee store. So this started my search for a Jollibee toy.

Now the promo goes like this, when you purchase worth 200 pesos from Jollibee, you can buy the stuffed toy worth 300 pesos. For me, the price was really steep. Good thing, my mom offered to pay for it just for Jared haha! So we ordered for delivery and as soon as the delivery man arrived with the stuffed toy, Jared started saying "bee, bee, bee.." He is absolutely one happy bee! (two bees rather, hehe!)

Today is my dear friend Sandra’s birthday and their wedding anniversary too. Happy happy day to the both of you!

And it's Jopol’s birthday too. He’s my sister’s boyfriend. Since it’s his birthday, he got pasalubong for us! Haha! It’s our favorite pastel from CDO. Thanks bro! Naks! :)

CRUSTASIAns

Thursday, October 23, 2008

Had a nice buffet dinner last Tuesday night at Crustasia with Cel & Sands. There are a number of dishes to choose from and I think I have tried almost everything in the buffet table (sinulit!). For appetizer, I had salad with mango dressing, siomai, and nachos. For the main course, I had roasted beef, fish fillet, chicken curry, lohan vegetables, pad thai and of course our favorite crabs in schezuan sauce. For dessert, I had mandarin orange panacotta. It was really yummy and I had 3! With the buffet priced at 399, and also with free entrance ticket (good for 5) at Laugh line, I can say that this food trip is truly worth it!

This is my 3rd plate already! haha!

Yummy dessert!

Magdadrive ako hangang...

Subic! That's how far I went today. It was really nice to drive in the new SCTEX (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway). It has a scenic route and lots of greens around. Travel time was almost cut into half! Anyway, I still need a little more practice before I can finally drive solo. :) Will meet Cel & Sands in Trinoma later.. That's all for now.

The weekend

Monday, October 20, 2008

I spent the weekend with the family (my side & Ryan's). Saturday - Went to the mall with Jared, Ryan, Mama & Mane. We ate at Kenny Rogers. It was Jared's first time in that restaurant and he fell in love with Kenny's corn muffin at first bite. He couldn't get enough of it haha! Then, we went to the supermarket to buy stuff for Jared. We spent quite some time here since Jared really enjoyed riding on the push cart. So here's the setting: Jared was inside the cart sitting on a can of milk while the 2 packs of diapers were on his side, and his foot resting on one of the diapers. How relaxing! haha! In the evening, Ryan & I watched a movie dvd, A very special love. At last, I got to watch it. Thanks to Mane, my sis-in-law, for buying a dvd copy.

Sunday - We went to my mom's house and had a scrumptious lunch. My mom cooked sinigang na hipon, turbong manok, & crispy pata. The sinigang was really good because I was the one who taught mom on how to cook it (haha! feeling..) She used calamansi instead of tamarind which for me is really better. For dessert, we had the Nestle Banoffee Surprise ice cream. The tub reads “swirls of banana and dulce de leche ice cream with real banana pieces, chocolate sauce, and layers of graham pie crust”. Yum! I personally like the combination of banana & chocolate so I really enjoyed it. We let Jared taste it too and as usual he liked it! In the evening, we watched ZOHAN but I was not able to finish it because I dozed off to sleep. Maybe, I'll watch it later.

Well, that's it. Hope you had a great weekend! :)

Ethan Vincent

Monday, October 13, 2008

He's the newborn son of my friend Grace. He's the one whom we visited in Laguna. We were all so excited to see and meet him. He was born last October 5 weighing 7.5 lbs. He is really big for a week old baby. It’s because he drinks a lot of milk. Grace told us that she started supplementing with formula because she can't get to his baby's demand. I hope she continues breastfeeding and try to eliminate the formulated milk, because there is no better milk than breast milk.

I gave her a What to expect the first year book. For me it's really the best book a first time mom could have. Everything you need to know is there! (ok not everything, but all the things about a baby's first year) I recommend it to all the moms out there!

Baby Vince is really such a cutie and I'm sure he will soon be Jared's pare ;)

Beep beep'm beep beep, yeah!

Yesterday, we went to Ninong Ferdie's house in Laguna and I drove for the whole trip.. yeah! I conquered South Luzon expressway! haha! Now, my driver's license does its real job not just being a valid ID.

OK, a little background, I learned to drive during high school days. My first instructor was my dad, and since he doesn't have much time to teach me, he enrolled me in a driving school. After that I began to drive in highways. But on my first out-of-town driving (Manila to Nueva Ecija), when I was about to park the car, I bumped it into a tree (how dumb!) I bumped the quiet and helpless tree. I did not notice that there is some part of it that was protruding. The car got a pretty big damage on its bumper. Since then my parents did not let me drive for some time.

But now, I'm back! And I've been practicing real hard, driving at every opportunity I get (driving my mom’s car). And I can say that I have improved a lot! Hubby agrees too! Pwede na daw ako pakawalan! Now I have to renew my driver's license since it still has my maiden name (talk about the hassles of getting married!).

Love escalators, hate elevators

Wednesday, October 8, 2008

When we are at the mall, Jared always likes to ride on an escalator. He sees it as one of the kiddie rides. Whenever he sees one, he would always drag us in the escalator and then go up and down and then do it all over again. It's nice to see the smile on his face whenever he's riding on it but it's sometimes annoying to go up and down repeatedly. Good thing, Ryan is patient in this area so he's always the one who goes with Jared.

However, it's the opposite whenever we go into an elevator. He cries and trembles when he goes into one. This has happened 3 times or so, I think. This fear started just a few months ago.

So last week when we went to the mall, we decided to take the stairs instead of the lift. Apparently, the stairs are located in front of the elevator so he will still have a chance to see it. And when he saw the doors of the elevators, he suddenly starts crying and trembling. We hurriedly went through the stairs and tried to console him after.

I am not sure what this is about. I don't know if it's the motion he's afraid of or the enclosed space. I just hope that this is just a phase and that he will eventually outgrow this.

World Chicken

Last Saturday, Ryan and I had lunch in World Chicken in their Trinoma branch at the food choices area. I first knew of this restaurant from Cel, when I was still working in Makati. They have a really hefty serving so I introduced it to Ryan who has a big appetite. From then on, it has become our (Ryan & I) favorite restaurant in the Food Choices area of Glorietta but that was during that time only.

Most of the patrons order the meal set with one bone-less grilled chicken with a choice of 2 side dishes. This now costs 149 pesos. Back then it was only 135 per meal, but that was a long time ago. Choices for side dishes are muffin, mashed potato, potato salad, macaroni salad, pasta, and different kinds of fried rice. The chicken was nice and healthy because it's grilled. You also get to choose the sauce for the chicken.

I had the chicken with mushroom sauce, pasta in pesto sauce and macaroni salad while Ryan had chicken with ranch barbeque sauce, asian noodles and bacon fried rice. Their pesto sauce is a bit salty for me though.

Catching Up

Friday, October 3, 2008

Last night, I had the chance to catch up with a few dear friends from my previous work. It's been a while since we last see each other. It was so wonderful to see them. We did what we always do: meet up in glorietta and have dinner. We agreed to meet at Wendy's and decide from there on where we should eat. But when I arrived at Wendy's, Toneth had already ordered her food. She said that she was so hungry and had no time to choose another restaurant.

We talked about each other's lives and also other people's lives (chismis.. hehe!). We really really had a great time. Looking forward to our next dinner :)

Seaside Macapagal

Thursday, October 2, 2008

Seaside Macapagal is a nice location where different seafood restaurants are located in one complex. It is where you are supposed to shop for seafoods in the wet market then hand it to your chosen restaurant to have it cooked the way you like. You will find just every kind of seafood that you’d like to have. Meat, vegetable and fruits are also available. But if you don't want to buy stuff from the wet market, you can just ask the restaurant to buy for you.

We settled at Aling Tonya's and ordered for Crabs in sweet & chili sauce, shrimps in butter & garlic, grilled liempo, sinigang na maya-maya sa miso, and calamares.

While waiting for your food to cook, you can browse through the many other stalls that sell music CDs and movie DVDs (all pirated). Ryan did this and was able to buy a Naruto CD (Naruto again?). Anyway, we did not wait that long, food was served just after 15-20 mins. Everybody enjoyed the food and were all so full (burp!). We even had a lot of food to take home.
