29 months

Jared is now 29 months old. I'm not sure if I'll continue these monthly updates for him. Blame it on my laziness, forgetfulness and I think there aren't many new things to update every month. So I'll just do a brief one here..

Statistics:
Weight - 14.7 kilos
Height - 96 cm

... His naptime has shorten these days from 3 hours to just an hour and a half
... He loves yoghurt so much! flavored ones..
... Loves eating ripe mangoes - his fave fruit
... He can now read the numbers 11-20 but he reads 15 as "five-teen" and 20 as "two-teen" hehe!
... Can walk down the stairs still holding on to the side railings with both hands
... When someone asks his name, he always says his full name

27 months

Updates

...Knows the colors yellow, green, white, blue, red, violet, pink & black

...Can count to 20 in English

...Can sing Row, row, row your boat, Little sunny water. Likes to sing in the "videoke" too.

...Likes doodling and coloring. He can now draw a circle :)

...Still not big on brushing his teeth. I'm always having a hard time convincing him to open his mouth so I can brush his teeth.

...Loves watching Yo Gabba Gabba, Dora the Explorer & Go Diego Go! And because of that, he says "Ariba", "Abajo" and can now count to five in Spanish. haha!

...Can take off his own clothes (bottoms only) & shoes too.

...Naptimes are a tad more difficult nowadays. So I resorted to putting him in the stroller or on a rocking chair just to get him to sleep (sigh)

...Still won't chew rice meals.. arggh! the only 2-yr-old that can't chew rice. His faves now are taho, stik-o, mallows, chips, fried lumpia wrapper.. anything crispy. I made him cheese sticks yesterday as I thought he'd like it because it's crunchy and he did, but he only ate the wrapper and disregarded the cheese inside. Talk about healthy eating!

26 months

The little one turned 26 months and here are some updates :)



...He can now recite "Angel of God" prayer but not all words are clear yet.

...He knows more colors like yellow, green, white, blue, red..

...He likes to ask questions and answer himself. For example, while holding a blue toy, he'll ask "What colour dit it (is this)?" and answer himself, "Blue!"

...He also likes to ask us questions and will commend us for answering correctly. Like this,
Jared: "Mami, anong shape ito?"
Me: "Square"
Jared: "Very good!"

...When he sees me on the computer, he likes to play "googling images". He would always say "mami, hanap ng kangaroo" and I would go to google images and search for those animals and things..

...He knows how to make drama na. He would make himself cry and then check slowly if you're looking at him! haha!

...He can walk up the stairs by placing both feet on a step and his both hands on the next step. He can't do the foot 1 at step 1 and foot 2 at step 2 yet..

25 months

He turned 25 months on the 12th of June. Nope, I didn't forget I was just busy doing things.. so..

Belated happy 25 months my cutie Jared!

Updates..

... He sings a lot more now. He can sing some simple nursery rhymes like "Rain, rain, go away", "Are you sleeping", "Twinkle, twinkle", "I love you (barney)", "Skip to my Lou", etc. He also sings tagalog songs like "Tayong dalawa" (of ABS-CBN), "Di ko kaya" .. and he sings them with feelings! haha!

... He seems to be more attached to Mummy and would ask for me everytime I'm out of his sight. Maybe because we're always together and he's not used to not having me around anymore. I kinda like this one :) though I sometimes find this restricting but I still like it anyway :)

...He is also more vocal in his rejections and demands. Like when he doesn't want the TV program we're watching, he would say "Ayaw ng tayong dalawa" (he doesn't like soap operas hehe!) and would change the channel by pressing the channel buttons.

...He's entered the endless-question-asking phase. I would always hear from him "Anu yan?", "Sino yan?"

...When we stroll along the mall, he wants to have his both hands held by mommy and poppy then he would lean forward with all of his weight. naughty!

...He can count 1 to 10 in tagalog and he can sing his abcs clearer than before.

And that's Jared at 25 months :)

23 months

...He's getting more talkative and loves to sing.

...He knows how to make the sign of the cross and pray the "Angel of God" He likes to fill in the blanks. He can say the last word of every line in the said prayer.

...He can recite the numbers 1-10. But usually it's 2 to 10. Always starts with 2 and forgets number 1.

...He's closed to being completely potty trained. He always says poopoo whenever he feels like making a bm. Before he usually says "umihi" after he has already peed but now he says it just before he pees and waits till he reached the toilet.

...I think his fear of the elevator has somewhat subsided. We tried to take him inside one and his reaction was relaxed compared before.

...Can recognize colors such as blue and red. He knows other colors such as gree, yellow, white but not that consistent in identifying them.

...He just loves the water so much. He loves swimming whether in a pool or beach.

...Loves playing basketball with his papi and sometimes with his yaya

...And the biggest issue, he hardly chews his food when he eats anything with rice.

And.. I guess that's all I can recall right now. So there. I will continue to keep track of Jared's progress, for memory's sake! :)

22 months

...His vocabulary has improved a lot although he still speaks in really short sentences.

...He knows how and when to say "thank you" and "sorry" at most times.

...He can recognize almost all the small letters except for l, q & t. He gets confused on the letters b and d while he sees the small letter l as the capital I.

...He can sing ABC (sort of) and it goes like this.. "a, b, c, e, f, o, p, u, v, w, x, y, z, Now abc now abc.."

...He can recite one, two, tee, por and after "por" he'll go back to 3, 4, 3, 4..

...He can take simple commands like when I ask him to get the remote control and give it to mommy, to close the door, to fix his toys, etc.

...He tries to walk up the stairs by holding on to the railings because he cannot balance yet that well.

...He loves playing his MegaBloks toy. One time he's playing, he showed me what he did and said "noark" - for Noah's Ark, which means that he made a noah's ark out of those blocks and yeah it sure looks like it! :)

21 months

Jared turned 21 months on Feb. 12. The cake is not his celebration cake, he loves to blow a birthday candle so we let him and I took the chance to snap a photo for this post. He still doesn't know how to really blow, but he was able to blew off the candle when he suddenly sneezed :)
Here are some updates..

...He starts to use more than 1 word in his 'conversation'. His conversation skill is amazing. He mimics us like a parrot and catches on real fast.

...His naptime is now okay. Sleeps at 1 and wakes up at 3 or 4 in the afternoon.

...He's trying to jump. Will bend his knees and push himself up but his legs don’t leave the ground.

...He can recognize all the letters of the alphabet and the numbers 0-10.

...He's still as active as ever, he won't sit still for even a few seconds.

...He's shown more interest in watching videos specially the Baby Einstein. His favorite was the World Animals. One part of me is unhappy because there's a tendency that it might lead to TV addiction, and yet another part of me is kind of glad because he learns from it and gives us time to relax a bit while he watches TV.

...He loves the "point and say", - point to the objects in picture books and name them. He can name almost all the things in his picture books.

20 months

Jared turned 20 months yesterday. And no, I did not forget; just didn't had the chance to go online and post. Here goes..

... He has become so vocal. If he's angry, he says "galit". If he's gonna cry or has cried, he says "iyak". If he's afraid, he says "takot". If he feels that he'd choke, he says "tuka" for suka. If he's happy he says "tawa" or "tawa naman". If he's hurt, he says "takit" for sakit. Funny!
... He plays on his own a lot more. He'd doodle (he says "dowen" for drawing) on his magnetic doodle pad. Whenever we ask him what he's drawing, he would say water or air sometimes or numbers or letters
... He enjoys being around with other kids his age. He says "bata" or "baby" whenever he sees them.
... Likes to play at the curtain. He'll hide behind the sheer, walk forward till his face is unveiled and say "eat... ga!"
... Very interested to open and close drawers and cabinets
... He still hates brushing his teeth.
... We're having naptime problems. Before he takes his nap from 1-3pm or 1-4pm which is good because he can still sleep early at night but now he takes his nap around 3-5pm which makes him sleep around 9 or 10pm.. :(
... He addresses every member of the family correctly. Like he can say lolo, lola, tita, ninong, umpe, ate, kuya
... He knows the number 9 and almost all the alphabets (capital letters) except for the letters R, S, V & Z.
... He loves opening and closing doors - our personal doorman

I love this toddler so much! I can't describe it!

19 months

Jared is now 19 months. Here are some updates :

... He knows almost a hundred single words (Hooray for Jared!). Oh yes, we counted and listed all the words he know.. talk about being overly obsessive hehe! But he's still having a hard time pronouncing the sounds of letters S, R, & L like when he says six, it’s “tik”, lola – “yoya”, racket - "waket"

... He loves soups – any kind of soups. He’s still not an expert on chewing. He mostly just swallows his food. How can I get him into the chewing thing?

... When he farts, he always says "utot" (I have to say it.. pardon me)

... Not too enthusiastic about brushing his teeth. I have to always come up with different strategies so that I can clean his teeth.

... He doesn't know his ABCs but can recognize some of the numbers. He can recognize the numbers from 0 to 8 but doesn’t know yet that it’s for counting. I’m trying to teach him the number 9 but he gets confused and thinks it is just the number 6.

... He's getting better at sorting shapes. He's able to fit in the shapes (circle, oval, flower, star, triangle, square & cross) into the right slots.

... Likes to play with the telephone. Takes up the receiver, put it at his ear, and talk like someone was really on the line. funny!

Happy 19 Months to our baby Jared! Mami & Papi love you! :)

18 months

Jared is now a year and a half! Let me try to recall some of his new developments...

• His speech is getting better. He keeps on repeating after people so we really have to be careful to what we say. But he still has those "alien talks" - words we could not decipher.
• He's more expressive in his feelings (joy and sorrow) and lets not forget his tantrums too.
• He has already got rid of his habit of thumbsucking. It started when Ryan did a heart-to-heart talk with Jared :) He explained the disadvantages of thumbsucking and Jared seemed to listen. Well, that's really good news! But the bad news is he had figured out a way to continue his habit without disobeying his parents. He replaced that habit with the "remaining-four-fingers-sucking". Oh my! I believe this is all Ryan's fault since he only explained thumbsucking and did not mention his other fingers. :p Anyways, Jared rarely does it so not a problem at all.
• He can now identify some parts of the body. "ay" for eyes, "no" for nose, "maw" for mouth, "ear" for ears, neck, "tin" for chin, "ampi" for armpit, "ebow" for elbow, "pit" for feet.
• He loves reading books and also loves to be read to.
• He is still afraid of elevators (ok, there is no development here :) )
• He started to phase out one of his naps. It's now either in the late morning or the early afternoon but usually it's the latter.
• He's getting better drinking from a straw. His favorite drink is yakult and he drinks or sips it as fast as a lightning! hehe!

There are more new developments but I cannot recall anymore at this time, so I'll have to save them for another time. So there, that's Jared at 18 months. :)
