Our first time to dine at Kanin Club in UP-Ayala Land Techno Hub. I've been wanting to try this place before with their first branch in Paseo de Sta. Rosa in Laguna but never had the chance so when we heard that there was a branch at the Techno Hub, we wanted to try it at once.

A Gastronomic Experience
Wednesday, January 27, 2010It was a Monday afternoon when hubby told me that we would be having dinner at the newly opened Tong Yang at SM Fairview. Since Tong Yang is in a buffet set-up, I decided not to eat snacks for that afternoon and reserve all that space inside my tummy (if there's still) for dinner. Oh and the best thing about it is that it will be a dinner treat by my SIL, Mei. (sweet!)

Friends
Thursday, July 2, 2009I had a great night out with my girlfriends last week. First, with my bestest college friends which also happened to be "May and My" birthday celebration. We met up at G5 and had dinner in Dulcinea. We had the chicken salad pasta, pesto, steak ala pobre, calamares, gambas al ajillo. The servings were pretty small and taste is just ok. Anyway, we had the usual chattering the whole time. And we ended the meal with a banana crepe which had become a topic for laughs. Oh, doann and kitine forgot to bring the gifts for the bday girls so we had to meet up again soon ;)Then a day after, I met up with my childhood friends. We were neighbors back then. We met up at a nearby mall and had dinner at Shakeys and coffee afterwards (both chosen by Andy). And as usual, we had non-stop chitchatting and picture taking. Janice is such a picture addict hehe! (and so am I) We had a whole lot of fun! Until the next one!

Tin's grad
Tuesday, June 2, 2009My sister Tin graduated from college yesterday. I was not able to bring Jared with us since kids his age are not allowed inside the convention center. It was held at PICC from 2-5pm. The graduation ceremony was actually shorter than what I expected maybe because of the less number of students participating in the ceremony. Mine dragged on for so long because we had the whole college of science students graduating.
I am so very proud of the young woman she has become and with all the achievements she got. I'm sure if my dad's still here, he would be the happiest. He was the most excited about it back then.
Anyway, after the ceremony we went to the Mall of Asia to have dinner with my Aunt and cousins. We decided to try Highlands China Palace at the 2nd floor of MOA. The place was set like an ancient palace.
We had siomai, hakao, crabmeat and corn soup - yummy with real crabmeat, chicken and prawn salad - this one's my favorite, beef in pepper sauce, salt and pepper pork spareribs, seasonal vegetables with garlic and of course the all-time favorite yang chow fried rice.

Dinner with gurlfriends
Thursday, May 14, 2009
Last night, my friends and I had dinner at Krocodile Grill in Trinoma. It was my first time to dine there and I enjoyed it. We had seafood soup, inihaw na tahong and the yummy salted spicy squid - seafoods galore! It was wonderful to see them both. Haven't seen them for months. Looking forward to our next night out.. Sands, don't forget the P&P receipts.. :)

Busy weekend
Monday, March 16, 2009Last Friday, I installed the AVG antivirus on my computer. After the installation, I scanned right away before I finished updating the antivirus. It had detected 3 viruses and I immediately clicked HEAL then it was healed I guess. I left the computer for a while since the antivirus was not yet fully updated and when I came back to check.. the blue screen kept on appearing and the system kept on restarting. I was so pissed of.. with the virus and the antivirus grrr! I don't know what to do with it so we decided to bring it to the repair shop.
Went to the computer shops on SM Fairview but none of them accepted it for repair since they don't carry the MSI brand.. another grrr! The following day we decided it to bring it to where I bought it (SM city Cyberzone) since it's still under warranty. We went to the new annex of SM city north since the cyberzone has already moved there. When the computer was checked, the technician told us that the problem is the software and it is not under warranty so we had to pay for that service. We were also told that it will take for about 2-3 hours so while we're waiting, we looked for a resto where we can have lunch.
Since the place is just newly built, there were only a few restaurants that were already opened, so we just chose TOSH. At first, we were hesitant to dine there since my mom and sisters told us that the food there especially the pasta is just so so.. With that, we decided to just order the rice meals, Parmesan crusted fish fillet and American baked spareribs plus the Cream of Spinach soup. And for me, the food tasted good. The only complaint of H is the small serving size, well it's because he has a big appetite but for me it's just OK. My only complaint is the place being not so kid-friendly since they don't have highchairs for kids. I hope they realize the need for it.
Then we went back to the computer shop to check the laptop and good thing the problem was solved and it was already ok. Now I'm back to the online world! :)
When we got home, we went straight to our neighbor's 7th Birthday party. It was a food-and-fun-filled party.

Dinner with friends
Friday, March 13, 2009
I had dinner with my friends Andeng & Janice (my childhood friends). So nice of Andeng to come all the way to Fairview from her apartment in Pag-asa. We dined at Napoli Pizzeria and they didn't like the food (my bad!). I was the one who suggested the place and the food.. we had pizza, seafood pesto and chicken and luckily they didn't like the pesto so I had more for myself hehe! They said that it tasted like grass (hmm..) Well, I was not aware that it's their first encounter with pesto. Had I known, should have ordered other pasta. . After dinner, we went to Janice's house to see her kids. Man, they're really big kids. I wonder how much food and milk they consume. They're all so cute and huggable.
It was really great to catch up with them. Some photos..

Lunch with the newlyweds
Tuesday, February 17, 2009
Went to Greenhills Shopping center yesterday to meet some of our relatives in Nueva Ecija and of course the newlyweds, Ate Beth and Kuya Jake. We had a hard time thinking of a place to eat while we're on our way. My mom said that Ate Beth’s husband requested to dine in a resto that serves steaks. So when we arrived at the mall, we headed straight to the Promenade where a lot of restaurants are located. The first resto that we saw which serves steak was Burgoo and then we decided right away because it’s so hard to walk some more when you are carrying a toddler in your arms. Jared was sleeping at that time and we forgot to bring his stroller so I had to carry him on the way to the resto. While we’re in the middle of our lunch, Jared woke up and immediately showed us a big smile. It's like he said hello to everyone in the table. Thanks to the crayons and paper in the table, I had the pleasure to eat freely because Jared got so busy using them.

Dinner at Secret Recipe
Monday, February 16, 2009
I had dinner with my girlfriends from college last Wednesday. We met up at Shangrila Mall in EDSA. May (or Maylene) was the first to arrive there since she works just around the area and I was the second to arrive. While we're waiting for the two late comers, we strolled around the mall and started looking for a place where we can have our dinner. After some walk around the restos, we decided to try the Secret Recipe. It was everyone's first time to eat there. The food I ordered was pretty okay. We had delicious desserts after, marble cheesecake and chocolate banana cake which were both good. I wasn't able to take pictures because everyone wanted to eat the cakes as soon as it got on our table. :)

A day at the mall
Sunday, January 25, 2009Went to Trinoma today with H and Jared to stroll and buy some things. We left home at around 2pm which was Jared's nap time so he was asleep in the car while we traveled. He woke up exactly as we hit the parking lot. I think he sensed that it's time to wake up or else he'll be left in the car :p When we got inside the mall, we headed straight to the food choices area to buy a drink for the thirsty husband. We came across the Slammer Burgers joint and got interested to try it. Well, H must have really liked it since he took some bite on my 2nd burger without me knowing it and the little one enjoyed the fries with the sour cream dip.
Afterwards, I went to Landmark to shop while Jared burns off his energy he acquired from his nap by running around the store while H runs after him. When I finished off my shopping, the tired father asked if we could rest and sit for a while, so we opt to have dinner then. We were all so exhausted after and decided to call it a day. :)

Rachelle is back! She left for Bahamas for work and now she's back to visit us. We had a late lunch at Bubba Gump, Rache and Flory's treat, coffee afterwards and later on decided to have some drinks at Gilligans. We had a non-stop chikahan. Everyone had lots of stories to tell specially rache. Flory also came from her work abroad and she'll be leaving again for Norway and will come home after two months (Gimik ulit tayo pag dating mo ha!). Too bad Andrea and Lynette were not there to join us. OK, I'll just keep this short as I'm really having a hard time on my internet connection. Will update this post some other time.

Cibo
Sunday, December 28, 2008This is where we had dinner last 16th in Trinoma with Jared & H. This was not our first choice but since we were already hungry and most of the restos are full, we decided to try Cibo as it was the place with less people. It was our first time to dine there. Service was good and the food was served without much waiting. These are what we had..
Complimentary chips
Crema Di Zucca - Summer squash, cream, slab bacon
Farfalle alla Genovese - Mushrooms, basil pesto, cream I love pesto but I didn't like this much, it was just ok
Ok, I know most of my comments about the food is not ok. With Cibo's prices, food must be really good so I kind of expected more or maybe we just ordered the wrong dishes..

Gumbo
Sunday, November 30, 2008
While Jared and I were waiting in the activity center of The Block for hubby, we passed by this restaurant and a waitress approached me that they have a promo. They'll give free buffalo wings if we have a food purchase worth 300. And since I'm a sucker for freebies, I asked H if he would like to try that resto and he agreed. The place has a nice ambience. The waiters are decked in festive New Orleans mask and every so often they will scream "Jamba... laya".
We ordered the Chicken Gumbo, carbonara, All-meat extravaganza pizza and got the free petite buffalo wings. There is also a complimentary bread with oil and garlic dip. The buffalo wings is so-so for me, just don't like its sauce. We had the carbonara for Jared but unfortunately he did not like it but when I put on some gumbo sauce into his pasta he loved it. For me, the pasta and pizza were both good. I would love to have another visit soon and try the others on the menu hopefully with a group since their meals are mostly good for sharing.

Sizzling Pepper Steak
Tuesday, November 25, 2008
We decided to try the Sizzling Pepper Steak as I've read good reviews about this resto. We ordered Beef Pepper Rice and Saikoro Pepper Rice. These pepper rice meals are served on hot plates where the meat is just slightly cooked. You have to finish cooking it yourself before you can eat. Then you mix it all together with the rice and sauce. We both enjoyed our dinner except for Jared. He threw up on his first taste of the pepper rice. My bad! I forgot that he's not used to the taste of pepper. So after that, we went to Jollibee so that Jared can eat. We ordered spaghetti and sundae for him. He liked the spaghetti and kept saying "apetti" for spaghetti hehe! And ofcourse, we did not let him eat up all the sundae, he just had a few :)

Banana Leaf
Tuesday, November 18, 2008Had a nice lunch at Banana Leaf (SM The Block branch) last Sunday courtesy of my sister, Arlene. It's an advanced celebration of her birthday on the 17th. Belated Happy Birthday sis! :)

Arlene suggested this place as she says that food here was good and it serves Southeast Asian cuisine. For appetizer, we had the Roti Canai which looks like a flattened bread and tasted like a soft lumpia wrapper. Maybe we made a mistake when we chose the condensed milk as dip instead of the curry sauce. We also had the Beef Brisket for soup which Jared really liked. Jared is becoming a soup person lately. Others that we had are the prawns singapore which is okay, fish fillet which I liked most, the noodles which name I forgot, the Thai green curry chicken which Ryan really liked, and the penang fried rice. I also liked the bottomless dalandan juice which they claim that its fresh juice and I think that it is. All in all, we really enjoyed the sumptuous lunch. Thanks to sis Arlene :)

Movie date
Wednesday, October 29, 2008
Last night, had a movie date with my closest friends from college. We had dinner first before going to the cinema. They suggested that we eat at Spaghetti Factory. I don’t like dining here since the price is a bit high while serving size is just good for one. Anyway, I had the Chef Style Pasta – baby shrimps in creamy pesto sauce which is quite good.We watched the movie, Nights in Rodanthe which I really did not enjoy but I did enjoy the time I spent with my friends. :)

CRUSTASIAns
Thursday, October 23, 2008
Had a nice buffet dinner last Tuesday night at Crustasia with Cel & Sands. There are a number of dishes to choose from and I think I have tried almost everything in the buffet table (sinulit!). For appetizer, I had salad with mango dressing, siomai, and nachos. For the main course, I had roasted beef, fish fillet, chicken curry, lohan vegetables, pad thai and of course our favorite crabs in schezuan sauce. For dessert, I had mandarin orange panacotta. It was really yummy and I had 3! With the buffet priced at 399, and also with free entrance ticket (good for 5) at Laugh line, I can say that this food trip is truly worth it!
This is my 3rd plate already! haha!

World Chicken
Wednesday, October 8, 2008Last Saturday, Ryan and I had lunch in World Chicken in their Trinoma branch at the food choices area. I first knew of this restaurant from Cel, when I was still working in Makati. They have a really hefty serving so I introduced it to Ryan who has a big appetite. From then on, it has become our (Ryan & I) favorite restaurant in the Food Choices area of Glorietta but that was during that time only.
Most of the patrons order the meal set with one bone-less grilled chicken with a choice of 2 side dishes. This now costs 149 pesos. Back then it was only 135 per meal, but that was a long time ago. Choices for side dishes are muffin, mashed potato, potato salad, macaroni salad, pasta, and different kinds of fried rice. The chicken was nice and healthy because it's grilled. You also get to choose the sauce for the chicken.
I had the chicken with mushroom sauce, pasta in pesto sauce and macaroni salad while Ryan had chicken with ranch barbeque sauce, asian noodles and bacon fried rice. Their pesto sauce is a bit salty for me though.
